Follow the footsteps of visiting Māori Chiefs and discover Parramatta’s intriguing Māori heritage since 1805.

With a Māori guide, you’ll visit heritage sites including Old Government House, Kings School and St Johns Church, and see taonga (treasured  objects) – pounamu (greenstone) and traditional Māori carving. You'll  get hands-on with taonga and hear surprising stories of Māori in Parramatta from 1805 to the present, where 1 in 5 Māori now live in Australia – many of them in Parramatta!

This engaging new tour is based on Māori historian Maraama Kamira's  book “Māori Trade and Relations in Parramatta" published by Parramatta City Council in 2016.
