This interactive program explores Te Ao Mฤori - โway of lifeโ in Mฤori society, including social, cultural, economic and political features. Linking past to present, this interactive incursion brings the vibrancy of Mฤori culture, heritage and history to your school.
Students will develop understanding of Mฤori heritage, culture and history including Tikanga (cultural protocols), Mฤori migration from Hawaiiki and settlement of Aotearoa (New Zealand), trade and resource management (sustainability). Interactive activities include poi and stick games.
Your students will hear a Mฤori legend, get hands-on with natural resources, games and 'taonga' (treasured objects), listen to Te Reo (Mฤori language) spoken and learn how to hongi.

Due to popular demand, Haka workshops are also available for classes that have already experienced a Mฤori incursion! Children will learn a haka, and develop understanding of how and why HAKA are performed.
