Years 7-12 (secondary)

This incursion explores Te Ao Māori - ‘way of life’ in Māori society, including social, cultural, economic and political features. Students will develop understanding of Māori heritage, culture and history through interactive activities, story telling and opportunities for Q and A. 

Led by a Māori Educator, your students will have a unique opportunity to learn about Māori culture and heritage though interactive experiences, song  (waita) and story-telling.

  • A Resource Kit which includes ideas for post-incursion activities (e.g how to make poi), lyric sheets and links to music in case you'd like to have a go at any of the activities with your class after the incursion.

Haka workshops

  • Available for classes who have previously experienced a Māori incursion
  • Students will learn a haka, and develop understanding of how and why Haka are performed
